Great Job, Wildcats!

17 11 2010

WCA 7th graders, you all have done a terrific job responding to these outstanding devotions.  This internet activity has been a huge success.

Your comments were full of honest compliments, constructive criticism, and original thoughts.  Many of you shared your personal struggles with the challenges set forth in these devotions and in the novel.  Clearly, we all struggle to live lives worthy of the gospel and of the heroism in Narnia.

As your teachers, we are proud to see the awareness that you all are showing of what makes good writing, sound logic, and deep truth.  We are seeing progress, and there is so much more to learn and practice in the remaining 60% of the school year.  Keep up the good work.

We are looking forward to sharing in the delight of the opening of The Dawn Treader with you very soon.

Sincerely,

Mr. K and Mrs. M

Got Faith?

They get mocked, they’re called names, and they get dirty looks, but they still do what they do. They’re the Chicago Cubs fans that live in St. Louis. Now obviously if they lived in Chicago, being a Cubs fan would be easy. In the same way, it’s hard for Christians to live in a fallen world, but they must stay faithful to Christ. Then, they will get to the perfect reward at the end—heaven.

In the book The Last Battle, the creatures of Narnia face the same enigma. Most of them are scared of being killed, so they don’t stay on Aslan’s side. However, there are a few that trust Aslan with everything even in the midst of danger; this doesn’t mean that they’re not terror-stricken, though. Read the rest of this entry »

Welcome Wildcats!

15 11 2009

Mrs. M and Mr. K are so proud of the devotions written by the 7th graders this year.  Here are some of the best of the best.  Please read them and make some thoughtful, sincere comments.  If you can add something, then please do.  Tell your story or your thought.  That’s what this is all about – sharing ideas and stories.

In two years there have been over 4,800 hits on this website, which shows how much the students were reading each other’s devotions and making comments.

Hopefully, some teachers and students from other schools around the world will find some inspiration on this site in the future.  We will keep it active until next year’s seventh graders get their turn.
